Pea seeds “Mustachioed peas”

How to properly grow

Peas are one of the easiest types of microgreens to grow. Follow the basic rules:

  1. Choose seeds of high quality, free of mold, rot, and other damages.
  2. Use a tray or container with drainage holes in the bottom to avoid stagnant water.
  3. Choose a substrate that retains moisture well without waterlogging the roots. Suitable: coconut fiber, cotton pads, vermiculite, and linen matting. Can be grown in hydroponics.
  4. The optimum temperature for seed germination is 18-22 °C, and for microgreen growth - 20-25 °C, the air humidity should be within 50-70%.
  5. Water young sprouts frequently - 1-2 times a day, using purified water.
  6. Microgreens can grow on a windowsill if there's enough light or in winter under phytolamps.

There's no need to fertilize microgreens because they get all the necessary nutrients from the seeds. After the seeds germinate, microgreens are ready for use in 10-14 days, reaching a height of 20 cm.

Using microgreens

Microgreens of peas go well with vegetables, nuts, cheeses, meat, fish, and seafood. It can be added to many dishes:
- salads;
- soups;
- fish and meat dishes;
- sandwiches and burgers;
- smoothies and cocktails.
Microgreens of peas will give the dishes juiciness, piquancy, light crunch, flavor, enriching them with vitamins and minerals.
