Chia microgreens are a true vitamin and mineral powerhouse in miniature form. Thanks to their rich nutritional profile, they support overall health and fit effortlessly into any diet:
- Omega-3 fatty acids — support heart and brain function.
- Calcium — strengthens bones and teeth, especially important in plant-based diets.
- Iron — promotes healthy blood production and oxygen delivery to cells.
- Magnesium — helps manage stress and supports healthy blood pressure.
- Antioxidants — protect cells from aging and inflammation.
Chia is also naturally gluten-free and hypoallergenic — a smart choice for those with sensitive digestion.
How to properly grow
How to properly grow
Growing chia microgreens has one unique feature — when moistened, the seeds form a gel-like coating. That’s why they’re grown without covering them with soil or substrate:
- Substrate: Best grown on fabric mats, coconut fiber pads, or even paper towels.
- Temperature: Ideally 20–22 °C (68–72 °F). Keep away from drafts.
- Watering: Mist gently to avoid disturbing the gel layer. Avoid overwatering!
- Light: 10–12 hours per day. A bright windowsill or grow light works well.
Sprouts begin to appear in just 2–3 days, and you can harvest them between days 6–9. It’s best to cut them before stems become fibrous — when they’re at their most tender and juicy.
Using microgreens
Using microgreens
Chia microgreens pair beautifully with vegetable salads, smoothies, porridge, wraps, and sandwiches. Their subtle, neutral-green flavor won’t overpower other ingredients — it simply enhances the freshness of the dish.
Thanks to their rich nutrient profile and ease of cultivation, chia is perfect for healthy eating at home. And the best part — you’ll always have fresh, chemical-free greens at your fingertips, with no plastic packaging.
Make wellness a habit — chia microgreens will reward you with flavor, benefits, and the joy of growing your own food!
